Welcome Pastor Jamal!

Posted by admin on January 12th, 2009

img_3815.JPGFor those of you who may not know, Unashamed Youth Ministries is under a transition. Pastor John our beloved youth pastor is on his way to Florida to further his education in ministry by unction of the Holy Spirit. We are happy to have had him for as long as we did and even more so for the many lives he and his wife Lisa have poured into. The work they have done will be seen in our lives as youth group students and hopefully we will pass it down for years to come. We are sad to see them go because they were more than just pastors but they were friends and to some family. We look forward to seeing and hearing what God continues to do in their lives. We are also excited to welcome Pastor Jamal as the new youth pastor. In the time that he and Pastor John have spent together helping to make the transition smooth it has become apparent that his heart for the students is to see them grow closer to God. Although Pastor John is leaving us, we are eager to see what God has in store for us here at Unashamed Youth with Pastor Jamal.

Youth Convention Debrief

Posted by admin on November 15th, 2007

I’m so excited to hear all of the positive feedback from youth convention. And in my opinion, this year’s was one of the best. Some of you were challenged to live out your Christian life in a more consistent way. Other were filled with the Holy Spirit and still others rose to the challenge to become a campus missionary.

I want you to know that I’m proud of you all and pray that you will continue to walk in what you have experienced.

We want to hear from you…. leave your youth convention comments here.

New Opportunities

Posted by admin on November 15th, 2007

There are some new things happening…take a look!

For those who have taken the plunge to be a Campus Missionary (CM) we will have weekly meetings on Wednesdays at 6:30pm. For those who attend the After School Program, this is right after dinner.

Our ministry team rehearsals will soon be moving to a new time…stay tuned for more on that.

Finally, Student Leadership Applications will be available the first Wednesday in December. There are several positions available including, worship leader, drama leader, peer counselor, greeters, and small group assistants. If you’re interested in developing your leadership potential and serving your youth ministry, please consider becoming a student leader.

Peace!

Top Ten Things To Do With A Free Weekend

Posted by admin on November 1st, 2007

Since there is nothing on our youth group calendar this weekend, I know MANY of you will be struggling, trying to find things to do.  Here are my top ten suggestions on how to fill up all that free time.

10.  Go to your great aunt’s house and help her clean out her big smelly purse.

9.  Experiment with some new jello molds.

8.  Search all of the couch cushions in your neighborhood as a Speed The Light fundraiser.  Please wear gloves…

7.  Write your congressman a letter begging for an extension of the school year and the addition of a 13th grade.

6.  Let your mom wash your mouth out with soap, just for the fun of it.

5.  Buy a hermit crab (hours and hours of family fun).

4.  Find out if E really does equal MC squared.

3.  Practice you new, hot, country line-dancing moves.

2.  Buy a can of pressurized cheese wiz and do make overs.

1.  Conduct stem cell research on the neighbor’s barking dog.

Have a great weekend everybody!

A Reminder About Service Tonight…

Posted by admin on October 17th, 2007

Tonight, youth group will be in the sanctuary as part of the revival services we are having as an entire church.  The youth worship team is leading worship tonight and I know it will be an awesome time.  I am believing for MIRACLES to happen as we worship and seek God.

Don’t be a slacker…this IS a youth event that we get to share together with everyone.  See you at 7:15pm

Fabian

Congratulations to the winners of the Limerick contest…

This contest ends at 11:59:59pm November 6th and the winners will be announced at youth group on November 7th.

here are some examples if you have no idea what a limerick is.  Happy commenting!!

There once was a man from Bombay
who wore on his head a toupee.
He thought that he might
give friends a delight
and remove his toupee for a day.

There one was a man from Peru,
Who dreamed of eating his shoe,
he awoke with a fright,
in the middle of the night,
and found that his dream had come true!

Band Of Brothers

Posted by admin on October 11th, 2007

Hey guys, I just wanted to send you some encouragement after last night’s awesome discussion.  As I sit in my office reflecting on our willingness to fight with and for one another, I am so hopeful and proud of you and anticipate great victories in the future.

In light of this, I have posted in the vodpod my favorite speech for you - Henry V.  I know it’s Shakespeare…but once you understand what he’s saying, it’s very powerful.

The battle was the battle of Agincourt, fought on October 25th, 1415.  The French outnumbered the English at least 3 to 1 and the English stood together to ward off the swarming French.  You can read more about that battle here.

Press on you Band of Brothers!!
